First Doctor Visit

Max had his two week check up this morning. When we left the hospital two weeks ago he weighed 8 lbs. 7 oz.- today he weighs 10 lbs. 10 oz. He's getting to be a hefty little guy. It stands to reason- he LOVES eating.
Because we take him to the same pediatrician that Great Grandma Ann works at, Max gets extra special attention. The doctor said he looks pretty good. His umbilical cord hadn't fallen off, but while she was checking his circumcision she brushed against it and the stump stuck to her finger. Max didn't seem to notice. He's happier now because that means he gets more tummy time.
Max does have a crusty little eyes which we have to massage ointment into. Other than that he's perfectly healthy and registering well above normal in height and weight for his age. His head size is right at average. I don't know why they calculate these things. The doctor gave us a chart so we can keep track too.
Our next appointment is at the beginning of Sept. Max will get a good deal of shots. Maybe dad will have to miss that appointment.

Max is growing so fast

Max is one week old today. He started out the morning much like he started his life, by waking up Daddy at 3:00 am. At least I didn't have to drive to the hospital this time. He fussed for sometime and I gave him a bottle and changed his diaper. He ate 5 oz of milk before I knew it. Still, that didn't calm him too much. by that time (3:45 am) he and I had woken up Mommy. It turns out all he wanted to do was cuddle with Ashley.

Max is changing everyday. His hair is getting lighter and falling out some. His face is building new expressions all the time. We may be seeing full-on gummy smiles in a matter of days. When he gets burped, Max wants to hold his head upright, but can't for more than a moment. I think it's impressive he gets his head off my shoulder. He poops and pees great and eats even better. I suppose these days will seem so far away, even by the end of summer.

Keeping in touch

While I will probably rarely enter anything new on this site, Ashley will be all about bloggin' it up and commentin' away. This will become vital to keeping everyone in touch as our family grows up and possibly expands. (I've told Ash the only way she's getting three kids is if the second pregnancy is twins) So, come back often and give your input on the many blogs to come.
